Report Suspected Child Abuse
If you suspect a child is being abused, Texas law requires you to report it. You can make a report by phone or online.
Reports must be filed directly with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, or in an emergency, by calling 911.
Do not contact the Children’s Advocacy Center of Parker County to report suspected abuse. We can only become involved once law enforcement or CPS contacts us.
What Information Will I Need?
You do not need to have proof or all the answers before making a report. Share as much information as you can. When you make a report, you may be asked about:
The people involved
Information about the child, the person you suspect of abuse, and others who may know about the situation.
What happened and any safety concerns
What you saw, heard, or learned that caused you to be concerned, along with anything that may affect the child’s immediate safety.
Helpful details, if you know them
Information such as the child’s name, age and address, family members, injuries, or other relevant details.
Reports Are Confidential, But Not Anonymous
When making a report, you’ll be asked to provide your name and contact information. Your identity is kept confidential.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
After You Make a Report
Once a report is made, the appropriate authorities review the information and determine what happens next.
Law enforcement or Child Protective Services will contact us. You do not need to contact us separately.
We will then work alongside the agencies involved to provide a coordinated response and support the child and family throughout the process.
